1. Introduction

Welcome to Koala+. By accessing or using our platform, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Koala+ provides a ridesharing service designed to offer predictable, affordable transportation through a credit-based system.

If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use the service.

2. Definitions

• “Koala+” refers to the ridesharing platform and its operators
• “User” / “Rider” refers to any individual using the service
• “Credits (Cr)” refers to prepaid ride units
• “Driver” refers to independent service providers using the platform

3. Eligibility

You must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Provide accurate account information
• Use the service in compliance with all applicable laws

Koala+ reserves the right to suspend accounts that violate these conditions.

4. The Koala+ Credits Model

Koala+ operates on a prepaid Credits system:

• 1 Credit (Cr) covers a ride distance between 1km and 40km
• Credits are purchased in bundles (e.g. 35 Cr, 60 Cr)
• Credits are non-transferable unless explicitly stated
• Credits may have expiration periods (if applicable, clearly shown at purchase)

5. Pricing & Fees

Koala+ aims to provide predictable, low-cost pricing:

• No surge pricing applies at any time
• During waiting periods beyond 5 minutes, a fee of $0.05–$0.08 per minute may apply
• Additional stops may incur extra fees
• Distances beyond 40km may be charged separately

All fees will be clearly displayed before ride confirmation where applicable.

How extra fees work:

On top of the distance‑based fare, a small set of mandatory and situational fees may apply to each trip:

Platform fee:

$120 bundle: a platform fee of about $3.42 per trip.

$180 bundle: a platform fee of about $3.00 per trip.

This helps cover payment processing, support, and running the Koala+ platform.

Tolls: If your trip uses a toll road, the toll amount is added to your fare. We don’t mark this up—it’s simply passed through.

Airport fees: Some airports charge an additional pickup or drop‑off fee for rideshare vehicles. Where this applies, it will be added to your trip total.

Venue/event fees: Large venues and events (for example, stadiums on game days, the Melbourne Cup, concerts, or major festivals) may charge access or pickup fees for rideshare.

When these apply, they are added to the rider’s fare.

You can think of it this way: Your bundle covers the ride itself; platform fees, tolls, airport charges, and special venue fees are added on when they apply.

6. Booking & Ride Usage

By booking a ride, you agree to:

• Be present at the pickup location on time
• Treat drivers and vehicles respectfully
• Use the service for lawful purposes only

Koala+ reserves the right to cancel rides in cases of misuse or safety concerns.

7. Cancellations & No-Shows

• Riders may cancel within a reasonable time window without penalty
• Late cancellations or failure to appear may result in:
  
  • Loss of a Credit, or
  • A cancellation fee

Details will be shown in-app prior to confirmation.

8. Driver Relationship

Drivers on Koala+ are independent contractors, not employees.

Koala+:

• Facilitates connections between riders and drivers
• Does not directly provide transportation services
• Is not responsible for driver conduct beyond applicable legal obligations

9. Safety & Liability

Koala+ prioritizes safety but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or risk-free service.

To the extent permitted by law:

• Koala+ is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Riders assume responsibility for their use of the service

Nothing in these terms excludes rights under Australian Consumer Law.

10. Payments & Refunds

• All purchases of Credits are final unless otherwise required by law
• Refunds may be issued in cases of:
  
  • Service failure
  • Billing errors
  • Exceptional circumstances

Requests must be submitted through official support channels.

11. Account Suspension & Termination

Koala+ may suspend or terminate accounts that:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
• Pose safety risks to drivers or other users

12. Privacy

Koala+ collects and processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

This includes:

• Location data
• Payment information
• Usage behavior

13. Changes to Terms

Koala+ may update these Terms at any time.

Users will be notified of significant changes. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, including applicable state laws in New South Wales (Sydney) and Victoria (Melbourne).
